When the animal scientist has made discoveries that are in synchrony with other disciplines it makes sense. It is a sign that we are on a pathway of truth.
Amazing how interrelated everything is. I hear family members who basically believe that we eat calories. They can't seem to fathom that what we eat is nutrients not energy.
Thank you Dr. Ballerstedt for this. All mammals are not the same, but there is still a great deal of overlap in physiology between livestock and humans that should be exploited!! There should be MUCH more cross-pollination and sharing of knowledge between animal science and human health science. Large animal vet and human physician Dr. Joel Wallach has stressed this for decades: Since no rancher will pay for expensive "human-style" medical interventions for his whole herd (which is absurd on its face), practicality dictates that Nutrition be utilized as the biggest tool for the animals' health. It's almost criminal that physicians don't know what ranchers already know about nutrition. Human doctors can also learn a lot from ranchers on the effects of plant toxins, as pastured ruminants are the "canary in the coal mine" w/respect to their sensitivity to plant defense chemicals.
"The science is remarkably compatible"
